Founded at the turn of the 19th Century, Nairobi has grown from a small railway outpost to a major cosmopolitan centre. It is the capital of Kenya and the largest industrial and commercial centre in East Africa with a population close to 3 million. The Nairobi Giraffe Center is located 15kms from the city centre. The Centre was founded in 1978 to save the Rothschild Giraffe from extinction.
From a safe specially constructed platform, you may hand-feed and make friends with the majestic resident Giraffes. Proceed to the adjacent Karen Blixen Museum which is an immensely popular tourist attraction. Its beautiful wood-panned rooms are filled with interesting archeological artefacts.
After that wonderful experience depart to Utamaduni Craft Centre where you get the opportunity to purchase a couple of souvenirs from the local artists.

David Sheldrick is a foundation that picks lost or orphaned baby elephants and rhinos, brings them up and later releases them to the wild. It is a very interesting experience to see them.
The Carnivore Restaurant is located 6km from Nairobi city centre. Among the many high standard restaurants in the city, the Carnivore stands in a class of its own. It is famous for its succulent steaks and game meat served at your table in giant skewers. The tender hearted are also adequately catered for; there is an unlimited supply of savoury beef, pork, fish and chicken. A comprehensive vegetarian menu is also available.
