DAY ONE - NAIROBI
Whenever you arrive, you'll be personally met and privately transferred to the Norfolk Hotel for your overnight. If you arrive early, sightseeing attractions in and around Nairobi can be arranged for you. [no meals]
DAY TWO - ABERDARE
Leave Nairobi this morning for the beautiful Kikuyu Highlands where you'll see so many beautiful little farms of coffee, tea and bananas among glades of flowering trees. Stop at a Maasai market for beadwork and other handicrafts. Then continue to the Aberdare Mountains for a night at the Ark Tree Hotel. From comfortable viewing areas, watch rhino, elephant, buffalo and other game come to the water hole, which is gently floodlit throughout the night. On request, the resident warden alerts sleeping guests to late-night arrivals of leopard and bongo and other special sightings. [all meals]
DAY THREE & FOUR - SAMBURU
After breakfast drive northwards and cross the equator, where you can be photographed with one foot in each hemisphere! Continue into the spectacular Northern Frontier District and the Samburu Reserve, rich in seldom-seen game like the handsome reticulated giraffe, the rare Grevy's zebra, the long- necked gerenuk antelope and the long-horned oryx. Samburu also has an astonishing variety of birds, including golden palm weavers and pygmy falcons. It is home for the nomadic Samburu tribe, a proud people whose warriors are noted for their startling ochre-colored hair and body painting. Enjoy accommodation along the Ewaso Nyiro river at Samburu Lodge .
[all meals]
DAY FIVE & SIX - MASAI MARA
In the In the morning drive to the airstrip for your spectacular flight past the glaciers of Mt. Kenya into the Maasai Mara, Kenya 's finest game park. This is the northern part of the great eco-system that includes Tanzania 's Serengeti to the south and which offers perhaps the finest game viewing in the world: great migrating herd of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle. This is “big game” country at its best! Prides of more than 20 lions-- including large black-maned males- are not uncommon. Search in the trees and wooded gullies for the elusive leopard, and in the grasslands for cheetahs. Visit the pools of wallowing hippos along the Mara River . Special opportunities exist here for a hot air balloon ride over the herds! Accommodations at Intrepid’s Camp. [all meals]

Dawn game drive in Lake Manyara when your chances for seeing cats are greatest. Enjoy a picnic breakfast in the park. This beautiful park is one of the most diverse in Africa , named a biosphere by UNESCO. Expect to see much big game like elephant, giraffe, hippo and zebra, and the park is famous for its lions-in-the-tree. Return to Kirurumu for lunch, and in the afternoon proceed to Ngorongoro Crater for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. [ all meals]
NGORONGORO DAY NINE
Dawn game drive in the crater. Recent research has shown that the crater has the most dense population of lion in Africa and this is the best time of the day to see them, especially following their hunts which occur mostly at night. There are usually 20,000 resident animals in the crater, a spectacularly beautiful volcanic caldera that is 100 sq. miles large. Return to the camp for lunch, and in the afternoon you can relax in these beautiful surroundings or visit a nearby Maasai village. [all meals]
